Crime Scene Investigators are consistently exposed to body fluids (such as blood) during their work. To protect themselves, they must know how to prevent the transmission of diseases that could be present in the crime scene they are investigating. Since you too will be investigating crime scenes this semester, you also need to know how to keep yourself safe.
